Ask Yourself 3 Questions…

Do you want to feel better?

Do you want to do better?

Do you want to be better?

If you answered yes to any one of these, then I’ve got something that’ll help.

Something that’ll get you feeling better, doing better, and being better!

Something that’ll help you accept your past, deal with your present, and be ready for that great unknown which always is your future.

Something that’ll help you grow and further build within yourself the character, and calm quiet confidence, of Jesus.

What is it?

Well, it’s better than anything transcendental meditation has to offer. Better than what any of the other non-Christian forms of meditation have to offer. Better than anything you can find through more yoga poses. Better than anything you’ll experience with the ‘law of attraction’, praying to ‘the universe’, or relying on astrology.

It’s better than crystals, energy healers, and pyramids; better than wicca, witchcraft, and goddess worship; better than psychics, shamans, and mediums; better than even the supposed aliens flying about promising to save us all!

And it’s not more religion.

It’s Jesus.

More specifically, Jesus and His first and great commandment.

What’s that you say? You’ve read the first and great commandment many a time, and never found anything in it that’ll do all this?

Well, don’t let that stop you. You’re not to blame.

It’s not your fault that you’ve never been taught the mystery hiding in plain sight found in our Lord’s first and great commandment.

The mystery that, once revealed, proves itself greater than any form of yoga, transcendental meditation, or any other personal development or spiritual practice you’ll ever consider.

Are you ready to uncover the mystery? Are you ready to solve it?

NOTE:
To keep up with the pace of change you need to be agile in your approach to spiritual fitness. You need something direct, that works with your busy schedule, and applies equally to every aspect of your life and its ever-changing circumstances.

You need the kind of focused, ‘essential’ spiritual fitness, that you’ll find here.

I built this program for others like me. For others who the church has also failed, so much so that we won’t even go back. Or, if we do go, it’s ‘on occasion’, or to keep alive ‘social friendships’, even though they’ve failed to meet our deeper spiritual needs. Sometimes failing us in their teaching, sometimes in the way they’ve treated us.

How ‘judgmental’ or ‘hypocritical’ some ‘Christians’ can be, is what many of us have found.

But either way, whether with their Christian ‘lite’ teaching, ‘wrong’ teaching, or their poor behavior, they’ve left us frustrated, with too many questions and never enough answers.

My program solves this problem. It’ll return your focus to the essential teachings of Jesus that provide you the kind of spiritual fitness you’ve longed for. The kind that’ll produce right judgment, not the poor behavior we’ve experienced and that’s driven us out of the physical church.

If this is you, don’t worry. For what’s happened, or is happening, to you (the same as happened to me), this being driven out of the physical church, is leading you into the waiting arms of the true Spirit of God.

So if you’re ready, if you’re looking for Jesus, for His teachings that apply to your 1) personal development, 2) your family life, 3) your place in the spiritual church, and 4) how you’re to participate in the State, you’re gonna get it here. Not based on any one particular denominational view or another, but rather on the best-of-the-best of Jesus’ teachings as understood across the full 2000-year history of our Christian faith.

And it all starts with you embracing continuous learning as you rebuild and mature your relationship with the Lord. Doing so as instructed in Scripture, each and every morning and evening.

Growing one day at a time, in just 10 minutes twice a day, using the Making-It-Real Membership service.

“The Essential Spiritual Fitness Program is for those interested in applying the teachings of Jesus to every aspect of their life. From personal development, to family life, duty to God, & even politics, Jesus has something to say to help you live right.” (Coach Paul)

GOD HAS DONE HIS PART. SEE THAT YOU DO YOURS.

As you uncover the mysteries of God hidden in plain sight through my Essential Spiritual Fitness Program, you’ll begin to see that ALL the Apostles taught the 4 Cardinal Virtues, in support of our Lord’s teaching on this very same subject. For all the Apostles were focused on supporting your personal development. For this is the intended result of your faith.

Let’s see what the inspired pen of the Apostle Peter wrote about as recorded for all mankind for all history, past – present – and future, in 2 Peter 1:2-11:

God has done His part. See that you do yours.

2Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the full knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue, 4by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the utter ruin that is in the world by lust.

5For this very reason you must diligently make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue (the 4th cardinal virtue of right judgment), and virtue with knowledge (the 1st cardinal virtue of discernment), 6and knowledge with self-control (the 2nd cardinal virtue), and self-control with hopeful endurance (the 3rd cardinal virtue of courage). Your hopeful endurance too must always be accompanied by godliness (for faith without works is dead); 7that in turn must have in it the quality of brotherly kindness (love your neighbor – the second of the great commandments at the core of the 4 Cardinal Virtues), and your brotherly kindness must lead on to Christian love (love the Lord Jesus Christ your God – the first of the great commandments at the core of the 4 Cardinal Virtues).

8For if these things are yours and abounding, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

10Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. 11For so will be richly supplied to you the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Now as we meditate upon these words, consider, today, this question Peter is here addressing:

Upon accepting Christ and receiving salvation through faith and faith alone … then what?

If God has done His part, what now is your part to do?

Following are some thoughts for your training as you consider this question.

To start, let me share that many times people who do away with God’s law and refuse to follow it, even after being saved, ask me, “So what are the works we must “add” to our faith (supplement our faith with), once we are saved by faith alone?” But they often ask this question as though it should be obvious that there is nothing more to do. They ask this question with great sarcasm.

I think this is the wrong way to think about this question and God’s law.

I’m not suggesting that we are saved by anything but faith, for it is a truth we are saved by faith alone. But when considering “Then what?” the question really to ask is, once saved, is there then anything we are instructed to do? Anything that will enhance our faith and/or help us in our faith so as to keep us from ever falling away?

If you take the time to investigate the answer to this question, what you’ll find is that, indeed, Jesus teaches us that we must “add” to our faith once we are saved. Not for salvation, but in response to it. He also speaks of those who do nothing after being saved as those who become worse off than they were before first coming to their supposed “saving faith”.

The Apostles all follow suit and teach the same thing after Jesus, including the Apostle Peter. In his second letter Peter repeats the teaching of Jesus about what we must “add” to our faith very matter-of-factly. As such, it’s a great place to start.

As you read the following from the Apostle Peter notice how clearly he identifies the things born again souls are to ADD to their “faith”:

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.” (2 Peter 1:5-7 ESV)

If you pay attention, you’ll notice the first 4 things he identifies are the same 4 Cardinal Virtues our Lord speaks of when He says to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. You will learn all about these virtues in both my Making-It-Real subscription service and my Faith-Without-Confusion online course.

Now what leads Peter to tell us what we must “add” to our faith, once saved? This that he wrote just before, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (2 Peter 1:3-4)

So, because of this, that is, in “response” to these precious and very great promises we’ve now become partakers in, he tells us, “for this very reason” in verse 5, “add to your faith (or supplement your faith with) virtue, etc.”

And notice, Peter too understands that it is us, our sinful desire, that is the problem, as did Jesus. It is not the law that was the problem, or the works of righteousness we’ve always been called unto. This is why he too is comfortable directing us to moral excellence (virtue) through knowledge of Christ’s supreme law.

Now, if we do this – grow in the virtuous life – what then does he promise? Let’s see (and notice, just like Jesus, he indicates that those who don’t add these things to their faith will end up falling away, and be worse off than before they first came to faith):

“For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:8-11)

So, according to Peter, who is teaching after the likeness of Jesus, we MUST add to our faith, once saved. Not for salvation … but in response to it.

Fortunately for us, these things we MUST add to our faith, once saved, are written in the good book.

In fact, all the Apostles throughout the New Testament teach us what these things are.

Now be careful to always remember: None of this means that we are saved by these things “beyond faith”.

It is always faith alone by which we are saved.

But faith alone is dead.

And if we insist for our own selves on just faith alone, then we, as Peter said in confirmation of Jesus’ teaching, well, we become blind, and in danger of falling from salvation.

This is the reason why my Essential Spiritual Fitness Program is focused on helping you grow in your personal development by developing in your own life the 4 Cardinal Virtues of Discernment, Self-control, Courage, and Right Judgment. For without adding to your faith the virtuous life, you are in very real danger.

As you contemplate these things, remember that the 4 Cardinal Virtues are the means by which we attain the ‘practical mysticism’ of Christ.

Simply put, they are the means by which we know Christ in us, the hope of Glory.

The means by which we walk in the Way.

— — —

As a reminder of the value built into my Essential Spiritual Fitness Program specifically through the Faith-Without-Confusion online course:

Step 1 unwinds the mystery of God and Creation through Christ. Uncovering the nature of the spiritual realm and how it is that our life in this earthly realm is the proving grounds for our eternal state. This is the foundation for deepening your relationship with Christ. The rounding out of your faith.

Step 2 gets into even deeper spirituality as it unwinds the mystery of the Gospel through Christ and the Cross. Introducing you to the Mysterious Melchizedek and, ultimately, your innermost self. Awakening you to the inner nature of your very own soul.

Step 3 unwinds the mystery of the new man and his life in Christ especially through the 4 Cardinal Virtues and the Moral Law. Taking you beyond “knowing” and into the “practical application” of Christ’s teachings. Elevating your mind beyond the things you thought you knew. To the grandeur and moral elevation of Christianity beyond which the human mind can not advance.

Step 4 unwinds the mystery of the practical application of Christ’s teaching in a world where not everyone is good. Where not everyone is willing to accept that Jesus is Lord. This is known as Discernment with Public vs. Private Enemies.

And finally, Step 5 unwinds the mystery of how the spirituality of Steps 1 and 2 and the practical application of Steps 3 and 4 combine into a daily practice of the ‘practical mysticism’ of Christ. Unfolding through an understanding and application of the First and Second Resurrections. We call this, “Embracing the Power” and it is the ongoing fulfillment of you growing your personal development through and in Jesus Christ.

OK…

For those of us who are saved, and are committed to amending our ways. We are those called to what we refer to as the ‘practical mysticism’ of Christ. To conforming our lives to the life Christ as the author and finisher of our faith so perfectly modeled during His earthly ministry.

And this is the very thing we help you do here with my Essential Spiritual Fitness Program.

Provide the ways and means for entering into dispassionate love that leads to the greatest passion through the mysteries of God, the Gospel, and Creation.

Centered on the revelation of Jesus Christ. The manifestation of God among men.

What we sometimes call “Training through The Mysteries of God in Christ.”

WHICH COMES FIRST? THE MIND OR THE HEART?

The New Testament teaches us, first and foremost, to love our Lord and God.

In Matthew Jesus says,

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38)

Luke adds, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.” (Luke 10:27)

Does this mean the heart comes first?

A common thread among non-Christian mystics is, indeed, that the heart is first when seeking to understand the mysteries.

But this kind of “understanding” leads to truth being relative.

This is why we find that, among the Christian mystics, the opposite has always been true. The mind is first.

Which leads to an “understanding” that is anchored in the sublime teaching of Christ and His Moral Law.

It is to this kind of understanding that we as Christians are called.

Indeed, are we not called upon in our faith to bring every thought unto obedience to Christ?

To let the mind of Christ be in us?

So why, then, does our Lord start the first and great commandment with the heart?

Simple. Because if our confession of faith only remains in the mind, and never makes its way into our hearts, then our confession of faith is naught.

So rather than our Lord saying in the first and great commandment that we must start in the heart, he is telling us this is where it all ends.

At the same time He’s telling us that the mind, or discernment, leads the way to a loving heart.

This is why “the mind” is last in the listing. The last (the mind) shall be first, and the first (the heart) shall be last.

This distinction between the Christian mystic and all others is the difference between a true reverence for God, the One who fills all things, and the false seeking of a “oneness” with, what turns out to be, “nothingness”.

Now consider carefully this concept: That “nothingness” must be the goal when the “heart” comes before the “mind”.

For the heart, apart from the mind, can not know its way. And so the “way” must be “nothing”.

The mind, though, can discern right from wrong, giving the heart a compass by which to know the direction for its tendency to loving kindness.

This is why all “love” is not equal to the Christian.

And why Christ spent so much time teaching what “true love” really is.

And what is it?

True love is that shown through the mind of Christ.

Dispassionate love that leads to the greatest passion. In Christ’s case, all the way to the passion of the Cross.

As we like to note…

For those of us who are saved, and are committed to amending our ways. We are those called to this sort of love. To conforming our lives to the life Christ so perfectly modeled during His earthly ministry.

And this is the very thing we help you do here with my Essential Spiritual Fitness Program.

Provide the ways and means for entering into dispassionate love that leads to the greatest passion through the mysteries of God, the Gospel, and Creation.

HOLINESS

The New Testament teaches us to be holy.

As you follow this teaching…

Seek not holiness in order to be righteous. Instead, because Christ has made you right before God, seek to make all that you do holy.

For remember…

It isn’t that we do works to be holy. It’s that we are as we should be in Christ which makes holy all that we do.

I am helped in “holiness” by always keeping in mind…

That grace by faith alone is first. This is, and always will be, associated with that free gift of Christ through the Cross.

It is then this free gift which leads me, by changing my very nature, to naturally desire to walk with Christ more and more.

Which then makes even the most mundane things I do each day, holy.

As we’ve noted before…

For those of us who are saved, and are committed to amending our ways. We are those committed to holiness. To conforming our lives to the life Christ so perfectly modeled during His earthly ministry.

The very thing we help you do here with my Essential Spiritual Fitness Program.

Provide the ways and means for entering into holiness through the mysteries of God, the Gospel, and Creation.

TRAINING THROUGH ‘THE MYSTERIES OF GOD IN CHRIST’

The New Testament teaches us there are many mysteries.

Mysteries of God. Of the Gospel. Of Creation.

Mysteries God has now revealed. But only for those with eyes to see, and ears to hear.

For these mysteries remain hidden, though hidden now in plain sight.

One of the wonders of these mysteries is how one can come to be saved through an initial understanding of God, the Gospel, and Creation. With such salvation complete in every way.

Simple faith is all it takes.

What precedes such faith? Repentance…

What follows such faith? Amending of one’s ways…

And this latter part, this is where the practical mysticism of Christ comes in.

For those who are saved, and are committed to amending their ways. For those conforming their life to the life Christ so perfectly modeled during His earthly ministry.

This is what you’ll find here. With my Essential Spiritual Fitness Program.

The ways and means for entering into the mysteries of God, the Gospel, and Creation.

Centered on the revelation of Christ. The manifestation of God among men.

What we sometimes call “Training through The Mysteries of God in Christ.”

Why A Wednesday Crucifixion Doesn’t Work

From the Essential Spiritual Fitness Program Newsletter on January 26, 2018, by Paul Rakowicz

Why A Wednesday Crucifixion Doesn’t Work

(Which is why the Church always kept it, and continues to yet today, as Scripture teaches, Friday to Sunday.)

For the folks who want to argue for a Wednesday crucifixion, I want to share the answers up-front as to why that’s not an option and therefore why we teach the Friday-Sunday Crucifixion to Resurrection sequence.

First off, the spring feast of Passover and Unleavened Bread includes its first three days as consecutive days. Specifically, Passover is on the 14th, the High Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is on the 15th, and the Feast of FirstFruits is on the 16th. That’s three consecutive days. Anything but a Friday to Sunday Crucifixion to Resurrection Sequence fails to follow this core requirement (and it has to be Friday to Sunday because it was on the first day of the week, Sunday, that Christ arose).

This sequence of days is found in Leviticus 23:5-11 NKJV:

5 “On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord’s Passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. 8 But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.’” 9 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest. 11 He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.'”

Now for those of you who want to argue that “the day after the sabbath” doesn’t necessarily mean the 16th, but instead it could be any day within the 7 days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, depending on when the Saturday sabbath falls within that week of each given year, consider this: The 15th, the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, WAS a sabbath to the Lord (Leviticus 23:7), so when verse 11 says to “wave the sheaf” before the Lord, that is, celebrate the Feast of Firstfruits, it says to do it “on the day after the Sabbath”. The sabbath just spoken of in verse 7 of Leviticus 23. The sabbath that is the High Holy Day and the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

You confuse yourself if you think that the “sabbath” spoken of actually means the regular Saturday Sabbath, and not the Sabbath of the 15th which is the High Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Now, if you want to contest this, you can do so all you want, but the Jewish historian, Josephus, who lived in the first century, wrote the following very specifically about the date the Jews kept the Feast of Firstfruits according to their understanding of Scripture and Leviticas 23:

“But on the second day of unleavened bread, which is the sixteenth day of the month, they first partake of the fruits of the earth, for before that day they do not touch them” (Antiquities of the Jews 3.10.15)

So you see, it is three consecutive days, the 14th, 15th, and 16th, that is taught in Scripture, specifically in Leviticus 23:5-11. And this is how it was understood and applied by the Israelites in the Old Testament. This being the case, ONLY a Friday through Sunday Crucifixion to Resurrection Sequence (remember the resurrection was on “the first day of the week”, or Sunday) fulfills this requirement.

That said, if you’re infatuated with the verse in Matthew 12:40, to the detriment of the three consecutive days and the rest of the verses in the Bible that discuss the Crucifixion to Resurrection sequence, the following is also instructive as to why we teach the Friday-Sunday sequence:

Let’s start like this…

In dealing with folks who want to insist that because of Matthew 12:40 the Crucifixion to Resurrection sequence MUST include three full 24 hour days, one need but point out the concept of “inclusive reckoning.” And the fact that without using inclusive reckoning, one turns 17 Bible verses into lies (while also ignoring the 3 consecutive days requirement).

Now by definition, inclusive reckoning simply means that any part of a day is counted as a whole day. Also important to note, is that inclusive reckoning is the mode of speaking and calculating days most prevalent throughout Scripture.

So, when using inclusive reckoning, one harmonizes all 18 verses dealing with Christ’s time in the infernal regions and perfectly fulfills the requirements of three consecutive days as taught in the Old Testament regarding Passover being on the 14th, the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread being on the 15th, and the Feast of FirstFruits or the Wave Sheaf Offering being on the 16th.

Here’s some detail on Matthew 12:40 and the other 17 references:

Matthew 12:40 (NKJV) “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

Only once, in Mathew 12:40, does the Bible record Jesus as saying that He would be resurrected after “three days and three nights.” So the cry goes out, “If this is not literally true, then Jesus is a liar! Absolutely no other explanation can be accepted!”

However, Matthew alone subsequently records SEVEN TIMES that Jesus’ words can only be reconciled by using inclusive reckoning. Seven times we see Him saying that He would be resurrected “in three days” (26:61; 27:40), “after three days” (27:63), and “the third day” (16:21; 17:23; 20:19; 27:64). Why, why, why do not these same people cry out saying the same words about these texts? — “If these are not literally true, then Jesus is a liar”???

When Mark, Luke, and John are added to Matthew’s list, a total of 17 (SEVENTEEN) statements of Jesus read “in three days”, “after three days”, and/ or “the third day”. That’s a ratio of 17:1.

Now look, we have to realize that every word in Scripture is inspired. Not just Matthew 12:40. That being said, wouldn’t it make more sense to reconcile all 18 references found in Scripture using the scriptural notion of inclusive reckoning, rather than insisting on Matthew 12:40 being “72 literal hours” and by such action teach that the other 17 quotations of Jesus are wrong?

In summary, because of the requirement of 3 consecutive days, and how inclusive reckoning reconciles all 18 verses dealing with Christ’s timing of the crucifixion to resurrection sequence, Friday to Sunday is the right teaching.

It is, as well, the reason the common teaching of the church for 2000 years has been Friday to Sunday.

Friday to Sunday is not kept because of some evil plot of men, but, instead, because it is in keeping with the ways and means in which Scripture teaches the sequence of events and the nature of the three consecutive days.

So, here, with the Essential Spiritual Fitness Program, we believe this is the teaching that best represents what we find in Scripture. And so it is that we teach this in our Program.

The Millennium Is Not A Future Event!

From the Essential Spiritual Fitness Program Newsletter on November 22, 2017, by Paul Rakowicz

The Millennium Is Not A Future Event!

Today let’s continue our series on “doctrine” as we make our way through the essentials of our faith.

And yes, it remains true. When you gain clarity — by getting a clearer picture in your head about the doctrines of our faith — you’re better able to receive and apply Christ’s teachings.

This, then, helps you grow and further build within yourself the character, and calm quiet confidence, of Christ.

And more and more transform your life through Scripture.

Helping you find real answers to your real questions for your real problems in life.

OK, now remember, in our last email we covered “The Passion”.

Today let’s think a little bit about Christ’s descent into Hell; which happened immediately after Christ’s Spirit left His body on the Cross.

This teaching about His descent into Hell has become the missing third of the gospel, as it is NO LONGER TAUGHT in the modern church.

Nevertheless, it remains a vital piece of the puzzle you need to understand IF you want to truly understand your faith.

You can do a deep dive into this middle third of the gospel in my book “The Pearl: The Captivating Story of the Wondrous Love of God”; you can get a copy at Amazon by clicking the linked book title.

To make it easy, let’s put this into the form of a little “creed”. Some “I believe” type statements.

Here we go:

That He (Jesus right after leaving the Cross upon “giving up the Ghost”) then descended into Hell where Satan held prisoner the soul’s of mankind;

And made war with Satan, that fallen angel who is the devil,

And locked him in the bottomless pit of Tartarus.

That He then broke down the gates of Hell,

And called forth the captive saints, fulfilling the Anastasis, or First Resurrection,

Implementing forever His Kingdom, initially through Paradise there in what had been the darkness of Hell, on that Good Friday afternoon.

I believe that He then celebrated on that Holy Saturday the Millennium with the risen saints, fulfilling the High Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which always pointed to the day that man would celebrate sin being taken away and no longer held against the saints; all of which also brought to an end the Saturday Sabbath.

OK, that’s a little bit about what history knows as “The Harrowing of Hell”, AKA “The Plundering of Hell”.

As Origen said regarding this plundering of Hell by Christ, “Christ drew up and set free from the recesses of Hades, the souls that were held in captivity.” Origen, 185-254 AD

Or as Saint Athanasius said, “While the devil thought to kill one, he is deprived of all cast out of Hades, and sitting by the gates, sees all the fettered beings led forth by the courage of the Savior.” Saint Athanasius, 293-373 AD

And as Basil of Seleucia said, “That which happened to the visible tomb of Christ (i.e. its being emptied on His rising), the same happened to Hades the invisible.” Basil of Selecia, ?-460 AD

And one more, “The Lord descends to the infernal world, in order that even those, who were in perpetual abodes, should be set free from their perpetual bonds.” Saint Ambrose, 340-397 AD

So, you see, while this message has been lost in the modern church … it’s a message that has been known and taught by the Church since the beginning.

And, it’s a message that, without which, you’ll be forever lost and unable to defend yourself from being led astray.

The modern church’s end-times science-fiction fantasy-futurism is a prime example of this. Who would be led astray in such things regarding our future once they got the full story of the Kingdom of God? Including the Middle (or missing) Third of the Gospel!

OK, as with each of these newsletters walking you through the doctrines of our faith, there may be some new information here for many of you.

But, as always, don’t worry. If you have any questions about any of this let me know. All you have to do is respond to this email with your question and I’ll respond as quickly as possible.

Remember, as the Apostles Creed teaches, Christ did descend into Hell. And as Peter proclaims that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day, the incredible celebration upon His descent is indeed the subject of Holy Saturday. And … in direct response to modern day fantasy-futurism … the fulfillment of the Millennium!

Alright, that’s it for today, and, as always, for those of you in our Making-It-Real subscription service, keep up your daily readings!

The Passion

The Passion

Today let’s continue our series on “doctrine” as we make our way through the essentials of our faith.

And yes, it’s true.

OK, now remember, in our last email we covered “Christ’s Birth and Conception”.

Today let’s think a little bit about Christ’s passion. A most stunning love demonstrated by God, for man, on the Cross. A love you can learn more about in my book “A Portrait of Christ“; you can get a copy at Amazon by clicking the linked book title.

To make it easy, let’s put this into the form of a little “creed”. Some “I believe” type statements.

Here we go:

Who, then, after His ministry and for the Kingdom of God according to His own eternal plan to lift men high above all creation, and to undo the works of the devil which led to the Fall of mankind through the sin of Adam, whose Ancestral Sin did cause the soul’s of our race to be held prisoner by Satan in the darkness of Hell,

Suffered under Pontius Pilate.

And was crucified, dead, and buried, through this completing every last jot and tittle of the Law as He, fulfilling His priestly work in the inner temple, fulfilled through His Passion the Feast of Passover, along with the full requirements of the blood atonement as foreshadowed in the events surrounding the Day of Atonement including the entrance into the Holy of Holies, the sprinkling of the blood on the Mercy Seat, and the exit from the Most Holy Place, all confirmed in the great cry “It is finished!” and the tearing of the veil from the top to the bottom at His death on the Cross.

All of this is to say that He made there, on the Cross, by His one oblation of Himself once offered in the Most Holy Place of the New Testament temple, which was and is His immolated body, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world.

OK, that’s a little bit about the Passion of Christ.

Now, when thinking of this, consider its power.

Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross in the New Testament temple did not only fulfill the Passover sacrifice, but also:

* The daily morning and evening sacrifices
* The weekly sabbath sacrifices
* The monthly feast day sacrifices
* All the annual feast day sacrifices INCLUDING the full cultus of the Day of Atonement, and
* All the other assorted sacrifices associated with the levitical priesthood

That’s why Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross is described as the “once and for all” sacrifice of the Melchizedek priesthood.

OK, that may be some new information for many of you!

But don’t worry. If you have any questions about this let me know. All you have to do is leave a comment and include your questions and I’ll respond as soon as I can.

Christ’s Birth and Conception – What Is December 25?

From the Essential Spiritual Fitness Program Newsletter on November 14, 2017, by Paul Rakowicz

Christ’s Birth and Conception – What Is December 25?

Today let’s cover some more “doctrine” as we make our way through the essentials of our faith. All to help you get even more out of your daily Bible readings…

And yes, I know what you’re thinking … and it’s true. When you get a clearer picture in your head about the doctrines of our faith, you are better able to receive and apply Christ’s teachings.

This, then, helps you grow and further build within yourself the character, and calm quiet confidence, of Christ.

And more and more transform your life through Scripture.

Helping you find real answers to your real questions for your real problems in life.

OK, now remember, in our last email we covered “Jesus and the Trinity”.

Today let’s think a little bit about Christ’s birth. Including the timing, which you’ll find is amazingly well planned by God within the structure of His Feast Days.

What you’ll also be interested to start to see is that Christ fulfilled every Feast Day from ancient Israel. You’ll see this more as we continue this email series on the “doctrines” of our faith.

Recovering this lost teaching of our faith is one of the ways you’ll find yourself being freed to keep even the Feast’s in Spirit and Truth!

To make it easy, let’s put this into the form of a little “creed”. Some “I believe” type statements.

Here we go:

I believe in God the Father Almighty,

Maker of Heaven and Earth and Sea, and all that in them is.

And in Jesus Christ his only begotten Son our Lord,

Who was born of the Virgin Mary on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles,

Begotten, not made.

Having been conceived by the Holy Spirit at the Feast of Dedication;

which Feast was fulfilled during His ministry as He, fulfilling His priestly work in the outer temple, brought forth from this New Testament temple, His body, His last will and testament – the commandments, statutes, and judgments of the New Covenant.

OK, that’s a little bit about the Birth of Jesus and His Conception.

Now, take a moment to notice the timing of His birth: at the Feast of Tabernacles. This is a Feast of the fall, or autumnal, season.

Also take a moment to notice the timing of His conception: at the Feast of Dedication. A Feast happening in December; when it’s “winter” as you’ll see next from the gospel of John.

Indeed, in the gospel of John, Chapter 10, we have the following happening during Christ’s ministry on the Feast of Dedication. A Feast whose fulfillment began at His conception when the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and formed in her womb the body of the Christ (the New Testament Tabernacle). And here in the gospel of John this fulfillment is being confirmed and completed by Christ Himself.

Here are the verses from the inspired pen of the Apostle John:

“And then the Feast of Dedication took place in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the Temple, in Solomon’s porch. Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, how long do you make us doubt? If you be the Christ, tell us plainly.

“Jesus answered them, I told you, and you believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s Name, they bear witness of me. But you believe not: for you are not of my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and I give unto them life beyond the bounds of time, and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. My Father which gave them me, is greater than all, and none is able to take them out of the Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.

“Then the Jews again took up stones, to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from the Father: for which of these works do you stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not, but for blasphemy, and that you, being a man, make yourself God.” (John 10:22-33)

Regarding these verses, here are some notes on this Feast of Dedication taken from the daily readings:

Liddell Scott: evgkai, nia evgkai, nia( ta,( ¿kaino,j) a feast of renovation, esp. that established by Judas Macc. at the re-consecration of the Temple, N.T.

This feast was initiated around 164 BC by Judas Maccabaeus; it was an 8 day feast and began on December 25th each year.

This is the foreshadowing of the Annunciation, which is the announcement of the Incarnation by the angel Gabriel to Mary (Luke 1:26-38). It is the foreshadowing of the “dedication” of the “true temple” which was the very body of the Christ. This is what we celebrate on December 25th, in preparation for the birth of Christ 9 months later at the time of the Old Testament Feast of Tabernacles around September 25th of each year.

That said, don’t lose your head! Celebrating December 25th as “Christmas” is far better than losing the celebration altogether. So I take advantage of the focus on Christ during the December 25th season, whether it be the ‘annunciation’ or the actual ‘birth’, and again remember the same around September 25th, during the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast celebrating the tabernacling of God with men (“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14).

OK, that may be some new information for many of you!

But don’t worry. If you have any questions about this let me know. All you have to do is respond to this email and include your questions and I’ll respond as soon as I can.
